Chelsea Crush Middlesbrough 6-1 to Book Carabao Cup Final Place

Chelsea produced a dominant performance to thrash Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, securing their place in the Carabao Cup final.

The Blues were in control from the outset and took the lead through Kai Havertz in the 19th minute. Reece James doubled the lead shortly after half-time, before Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi added further goals to put the game beyond doubt. Middlesbrough pulled a consolation goal back through Folarin Balogun in the 84th minute, but it was merely a consolation as Chelsea cruised to victory.

The win means that Chelsea will now face either Liverpool or Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on February 26th.

Chelsea Dominant from the Start

Chelsea were on the front foot from the start and took the lead through Havertz in the 19th minute. The German forward rose highest to meet a Mason Mount corner and planted a header past Middlesbrough goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

James doubled the lead shortly after half-time, finishing off a flowing move with a powerful shot from the edge of the area.

Mount added a third goal in the 64th minute, finishing off a fine solo run with a shot into the bottom corner. Ziyech then made it 4-0 in the 70th minute, curling a superb effort into the top corner from 25 yards.

Werner added a fifth goal in the 78th minute, tapping home from close range after being set up by Ziyech. Hudson-Odoi then completed the scoring in the 85th minute, slotting home after being played in by Mount.

Balogun Pulls a Goal Back for Middlesbrough

Balogun pulled a goal back for Middlesbrough in the 84th minute, heading home from a corner. However, it was too little too late for the visitors, as Chelsea ran out comfortable winners.
